Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does a children’s talent agent do?
A children’s talent agent is responsible for finding opportunities for your child in TV, film, theatre, and commercials. We negotiate contracts, manage casting calls, and provide guidance on your child’s career in the entertainment industry. Our job is to ensure your child gets the best opportunities while also protecting their legal rights.
To join our agency, you can start by filling out the form on our Join Us page. Once you submit your child’s details, including any relevant experience or interests and submitting a photograph, we will review the application. If we feel your child is a good fit, we will invite them for an audition or an interview to assess their potential.
We represent children from the ages of 4 to 18. Each age group will have opportunities tailored to their experience and stage of development. Whether your child is new to acting or has prior experience, we can guide them on the right path.
We are a sole representation agency which means that you are only allowed to be registered with ourselves. Unfortunately we cannot accept you onto our books if your child is already being represented by another agency.
No, prior acting experience is not required. We are interested in children with potential, enthusiasm, and a love for performing. If your child is new to the industry, we will help them develop their skills and confidence through training and guidance.
We do not charge any ‘registration fees’ or upfront fees – Instead, we earn income through commissions on the work we secure for the children we represent. Any talent agency charging large upfront fees is often considered a red flag and can be indicative of a less reputable. The only fee payable is an annual payment of £126 that goes directly to Spotlight Casting so your child can be listed on their directory and put forward for auditions and opportunities.
Our agency charges a commission of 20% on all earnings your child makes from work we secure for them. This commission covers our services, including finding roles, negotiating contracts, and managing your child’s career.
Spotlight is an industry standard Professional platform where top casting Directors view talent from many agencies in order to make their casting selections from. Spotlight opens the doorway to roles in theatre, television, film productions and commercials around the world. Upon joining the agency, we will manage your child’s Spotlight profile.

Yes, auditions and jobs may require travel, especially for high-profile opportunities. While many auditions take place in London, some may be held in other cities or even internationally. We will always inform you in advance and help you plan accordingly. A lot of auditions are also conducted remotely and via a self-tape submission to the casting directors.
The frequency of auditions can vary depending on the age of your child, the demand for specific roles, and the current projects in production. We strive to provide regular opportunities, but availability will fluctuate based on market trends and casting calls.
Yes, a parent or legal guardian must accompany the child to auditions and jobs, especially since UK law requires this for children under 16. In certain cases, you can give written consent for another trusted adult to accompany your child.
We understand that education is a priority. Our agency ensures that any work or auditions are scheduled around school commitments whenever possible. For long-term projects, we work with productions to ensure tutors or schooling arrangements are in place.
Yes, children working in the entertainment industry must have a valid performance licence, which is issued by your local authority. We will guide you through the process of obtaining this licence. Additionally, a child must not work more hours than legally permitted, and appropriate safeguarding must be in place at all times.
We encourage children to develop their skills through training programmes we operate like LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) acting classes, which offer qualifications in speech and drama. These can help your child gain confidence, improve their performance skills, and may even provide UCAS points for higher education. If any of our clients wish to enrol onto our LAMDA acting class training programme, they can do so by contacting us directly.
No, we cannot guarantee work. However, we are committed to finding and submitting your child for as many relevant opportunities as possible. Success in the industry can take time, and we will be with you every step of the way to support your child’s journey.
For most auditions, simple, neat, and comfortable clothing is best. It’s important that your child feels confident and able to move freely. If specific wardrobe requirements are needed, we will inform you in advance.
