Introduction
At Price Hubbard Talent Agency Limited, we are committed to providing a safe environment for children and young performers. Our safeguarding policy outlines how we ensure the protection and well-being of all children and young people we represent.
1. Purpose and Scope
This policy applies to all staff, freelance contractors, and external partners who work with children and young performers through our agency. Our aim is to ensure that all children and young people are protected from harm, neglect, and abuse while under our care.
2. Safeguarding Principles
Child-Centred Approach: The safety and welfare of children are paramount.
Prevention: We will create a culture of safeguarding by training all staff to recognize signs of abuse and act accordingly.
Partnership: We will work in partnership with children, parents, guardians, casting professionals, and external authorities to protect young performers.
3. Safer Recruitment
All staff and freelance workers involved in working with children will be subject to:
Enhanced DBS Checks (Disclosure and Barring Service)
Verification of References
Safeguarding Training: All staff will undergo safeguarding training upon joining the company and will be updated annually.
4. Recognising Abuse
Abuse can take many forms, including:
Physical Abuse: Physical harm or injury.
Emotional Abuse: Persistent emotional maltreatment.
Sexual Abuse: Involvement in sexual activities.
Neglect: Failure to meet a child’s basic physical or emotional needs.
We will train all staff to recognise these signs and respond appropriately.
5. Reporting Concerns
If any staff member suspects that a child or young person is at risk of harm, they are required to report their concerns to our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). If the DSL believes the child is in immediate danger, they will escalate the issue to social services or the police.
Designated Safeguarding Lead: Pamela Mayoss
6. Managing Allegations
If allegations of abuse or misconduct are made against a staff member or contractor, immediate steps will be taken to protect the child involved. The individual will be suspended while an investigation is conducted, and appropriate authorities will be informed.
7. Confidentiality
All concerns, reports, and allegations will be treated confidentially. Information will only be shared with relevant authorities when it is necessary for the protection of the child.
8. Review
This safeguarding policy will be reviewed annually and updated according to legislative and best practice changes.
